Spool of Dreams Boutique, a women’s clothing store located in downtown Cartersville, Georgia, was established online in September of 2014 by owners Aly Phipps and Elizabeth Watkins. Prior to their partnership, Phipps started the business as a hobby while completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Communications from Kennesaw State University. Watkins, who earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a major in Finance from Mercer University, was working as a commercial lender, when she decided that she wanted to be able to spend more time with her family. This decision resulted in her partnership with Phipps. In November of 2014, the entrepreneurs started operating as a Pop-Up Boutique. By January of 2016, they had outgrown their 350 square foot office space and came to the conclusion that in order to maintain their expanding business they needed to break ground on a storefront location. There was no doubt about the decision to take what originally was an old gas station, in the heart of Cartersville and turn it into what is now a thriving trendy boho-chic women’s clothing boutique. What started as a dream, and a passion for fashion, has now turned into the ultimate reality for these dedicated and determined young women.
